Visual Guide: How to use a one hitter without a grinder

One-hitters and cig-a-likes are favorites for many smokers as they are compact, discrete, and simple to clean. Perfect for quick, solo smoking, or hitting while you are out, the smaller bowl sizes on most chillums make sure that you are conserving cannabis and smoking effectively. Storing and packing for one-hitters is surprisingly simple once you have the right tools.

Next, take your best buds and lightly smear them onto the surface of your grinder card.

The ground cannabis will slide down through a hole and into a container underneath, making for an easy fill. You can push any remaining pieces with your fingers.
Some folks are content with simply pushing a nug directly through the top of the whole on their One-Hitters, but you will want to get yourself a grinder. Your cannabis will burn more evenly, which allows you to get more mileage out of the buds, and you will have less of a chance to get the pieces stuck together. Here are detailed instructions and photos showing you how to package and smoke your single hit, or a spliff.
Take the one-hitter, dip the bowl end in a puddle filled with crushed cannabis, and swirl. You will probably need to do this dipping-and-twisting action two or three times to get the best-packing, longest-lasting final bowl. You can use your fingers, grinder tabs, or another flat surface to perform a final pack on your bowl, and remove any remaining cannabis bits. Be sure to not pack your Hitter bowl too tightly, or you will unintentionally limit airflow.

Once the One-Hitter is packed

slowly draw flames from the lighter or wick into the bowl and start to draw, drawing flames in towards the buds. This will produce the cherry, allowing you to smoke the rest of the cannabis in the bowl without using the lighter again. We recommend taking a slow, gentle draw and exhaling, so as not to trigger any crunchy bites or unneeded irritation to the breathing canals or coughing fits. After smoking through your entire bowl, you can blow the ash away, or lightly smack your hitter on a hard surface to push the ash away.
In our experience, these methods are excellent for an initial cleanup, but do not completely clear airways of that sticky, sticky resin. That is why we recommend carrying some kind of poker with you at all times. Whether it is a dabber, a paperclip, toothpick, or dedicated poker instrument, it is a crucial item to have in your marijuana arsenal.

What if I get ash in my mouth?

Try packing the bowl of your one-hitter a little tighter i.e. pack some more cannabis in there, or use a tamper to press down on the herb within the bowl. Follow Step 2 above until you cannot fit any more ground cannabis into the bowl. This issue is more prevalent with new or freshly clean one-hitters, as they do not have the sticky resin coating to prevent ash from making its way into your mouth.

How many hits can I take out of a freshly packed one-hitter bowl?

This will depend on your specific one-hitter and how large of an inhalation you take; however, our Hitter holds enough ground cannabis for 3-4 solid rips.

How much cannabis does the Pebble hold?
