A One Hitter is a portable smoking device that is loved by many cannabis enthusiasts for its small size and concealment. However, over time, the tar and residue accumulated during use will affect its performance and taste. Therefore, it is very important to clean a One Hitter regularly. Let’s take a look at how to clean a One Hitter with boiling water

- Preparation
Before you start cleaning, make sure you have the following materials:
One Hitter: The device that needs to be cleaned.
Pot or kettle: For heating water.
Heat-resistant container: For holding boiling water and One Hitter.
Small brush or cotton swab: For cleaning small parts.
Towel or paper towel: For drying.
Cleaning steps
- Heat water
First, pour an appropriate amount of water into the pot and heat it. Make sure the water is enough to cover the One Hitter. At this time, I will also pour enough salt. The salt particles can help us remove stubborn residues well.

The following just needs to heat the water to warm, but not boiling. Preheating the pipe can reduce the risk of temperature shock and avoid cracking of the material due to excessive temperature difference
- Prepare the one-batter
While the water is heating, check the condition of the one-batter. If there are obvious large pieces of residue, you can gently brush them off with a toothpick or a small brush. Although this step is not necessary, it can help remove some larger particles and make subsequent cleaning more efficient - Soak the one-batter
When the water starts to boil, carefully place the one-batter in a heat-resistant container and pour boiling water into the container, making sure to completely cover the one-batter. Let it soak for about 5 to 10 minutes. The high temperature will soften the tar and other residues attached to the surface, making it easier to clean.

- Detail Cleaning
After soaking, carefully remove the one hitter (be cautious to avoid burns) and use a small brush or cotton swab to gently scrub both the inside and outside surfaces. Pay special attention to the bowl area, as this is where tar and residues tend to accumulate the most. Ensure that the brush is soft to avoid scratching the surface. - Rinse and Dry
Rinse the one hitter under warm water to ensure that all remaining dirt and cleaning agents are washed away. Then, use a towel or paper towel to dry it thoroughly, making sure there is no moisture left to prevent bacterial growth.
If you find that the above methods haven’t cleaned your one hitter thoroughly, you can continue with the following steps:

Prepare the Flour Paste
In a small bowl, mix an appropriate amount of flour with water until it forms a smooth paste. Make sure the paste is not too runny, so it can be easily applied.
Apply the Flour Paste
Using a small brush or cotton swab, evenly apply the prepared flour paste to the surface of the glass one hitter, paying special attention to areas with visible dirt or tar residue.
Let It Sit
Allow the flour paste to sit on the one hitter for about 5 to 10 minutes. During this time, the flour will absorb surface oils and dirt.
Scrub
Using a clean brush or cloth, gently wipe the one hitter to remove the dried flour and any attached dirt. Ensure that the brush is soft to avoid scratching the glass surface.
Rinse and Dry
Thoroughly rinse the one hitter under warm water to ensure that all flour and dirt are washed away. Then, use a towel or paper towel to dry it completely, making sure there is no moisture left to prevent bacterial growth. This method is one I often use, and it works very well!
